Pikes Pursuit 22/23 June 2013
This year's Winter Rogaine incorporating the 2013 Schools Championships is to be held in a familiar part of the south-west in the Bannister area approx. 1.5hrs south of Armadale. The area was last used 4 years ago and some other rogaines held since have also touched on the parts of the mapped area.
This is a recycled map so for those regular rogainers a chance to improve on your last efforts in this area.
What can you expect? Well for the families, social and novice rogainers something a little different as the setters felt it time to encourage these teams by tempting them to stay out a little longer. As a result, there are several good scoring controls close to hash that we are sure will help all achieve their best ever result.
For the more hardened rogainers there are plenty of other controls spread far afield for you guys and we feel the course will be fast as there are not a lot of hills - well step ones anyway - so navigation will need to be precise.
The bush is thick in areas but mostly open with some hilly areas. When setting we came across a few areas where there were bee hives so we will let you know on the day where these are if they are indeed still on course for the event.
If you need any help be it with your map compass whatever do not be shy. The setters are there with the yellow shirts and we are eager to assist you.
