Event intro

1. Good morning, my name is .... and as ... of the WA Rogaining Association and I'd like to welcome you to our first event of the year, the ..hr <name of rogaine>. I will say a few words and then hand you over to the setting team for the event related info.
2. (Novice welcome) Firstly, I'd like to welcome anyone new to the sport - please raise your hand. You are our most valuable rogainers here today as people who start here today will one day be the future of our sport. Have a great time out there and don't worry too much when things go wrong, just remember that Rogaining is Fun

   That said, remember to hand your route plan into the admin team before you leave hash house, as this provides an important layer of safety for novice teams. Any other teams that want to lodge a route plan are also welcome to do so.

3. (Wrist tag reminder) A reminder that wrist bands need to be tagged with a hash house control point wand to be activated. If they are not activated you do not get a score.

4. (Volunteer thank you) Thank you all volunteers making this event possible <thank by name the key leads>:

   1. Setters and vetters
   2. Equipment lead and team and camp manager, camp setup and truck loaders.
   3. Admin lead and team.
   4. Peter Mann and everyone in the admin team.
   5. HH lead and team.
   6. The team behind the scenes, Mapping, Event promotions, Registrations, the Committee and everyone else who have made their time available to make these rogaines happen.
5. (Gov thank you) I'd like to acknowledge .. The State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Lotterywest as major supporters of WARA in Western Australia. We get funding from them every year and appreciate it. This is part of the Government’s efforts to promote sport and recreation, recognising that sports are important to create healthy, vibrant, inclusive and connected communities.
6. (Promotion of upcoming events) <example> We have a full calendar of events coming up. Please see our website and sign up to the newsletter to keep up to date. Our next event is the May 6 hour on the 3rd of May, about 1 hour east of Perth and then in quick succession the 7th of June winter 12 hour also 1 hour east of Perth.
7. (Call for volunteers) We also need a complete team of volunteers for each rogaine, so please visit the Volunteer Grid on our website and follow the instructions to get yourself added as a volunteer for a rogaine. No rogaine happens without other rogainers taking time out to put one on (and you will be amazed at the free dopamine hit you will receive from being part of the operations).
