postheadericon Minnenooka (Geraldton) Rogaine - 3 June 2012

The Minnenooka 12 hour rogaine will be held about 20 km south east of Geraldton.  Perth based rogainers will find the country a bit different to what they are used to - no Jarrah trees grow this fra north, for instance.

The area is rich farming country where it is flat, but in other places the hills are steep and covered in vegetation. The elevation ranges from about 80 metres on the river to over 200 metres in the high country. The Greenough river does a big loop through the area.  The river is particularly attractive with many pools and large trees lining the banks.  At the southern end of the course is the Walkaway wind farm.

The event is being held on a long weekend Sunday.  This will allow "southerners" to travel to Geraldton on Saturday and home on Monday.  It is hoped that Geraldton people will take the opportunity to participate in a rogaine in their back yard.  WARA will be conducting an "introduction to Rogaining" course for locals who are rogaining for the first time.
